For some context, this selfie was taken after a long day of meetings with some modeling agencies and a well-deserved dance break in my hotel room.
"Who am I?"A revised (and less angsty) version:
My name is Elle Vandenberg. To be frank, I have no formal credibility to discuss fashion. However, I am a teenage girl with real-lived experiences and a genuine love for fashion. I find that these two aspects tie in very well with one another. So, who am I? I am an avid Pinterest user (similar to most females my age), a consumer of Vogue Beauty Secret videos and EDM, a Giselle Bündchen fangirl, and an aspiring model. Some of my role models include my mother, Jesus Christ, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Uptown.
I started my blog because I needed an outlet to talk—talk about anything I wanted. Don’t get me wrong; I have people to talk to, but sometimes I can get a little repetitive or annoying. I believe I have some fun stories and helpful lessons to share as well! The more I think about it, the more I truly believe this blog is just for me. It’s a love letter to my 9-year-old self who thought she was fat, ugly, or not stylish. You get the point. A love letter that includes all the mushy emotional things like “You are beautiful no matter how much you weigh or what you look like” or “Just own it!” Although these sentiments might seem sappy or cheugy, they make a world of difference. And of course, I love fashion. I don’t think there is a universe where I, Elle Vandenberg, am not interested in fashion.
The dream I have held onto the longest in my heart is becoming a professional model. This dream was first planted when I was 12 years old, after watching a video of a young Giselle Bündchen in the Chloé Spring/Summer 1999 show. My passion for the craft has grown ever since. I also have other passions, such as interviewing. Early in my high school career, I realized how much I enjoyed listening to people’s stories. I believe it is a special ability to make someone feel so comfortable with the meaningful questions you ask that they are willing to share rather intimate stories.
I hope my rambling has contributed to explaining who I am and what this blog is about, at least a little bit.
